Ronald Stefanski, Centric Learning’s Executive Director of Partnerships, participated on EdTech Industry roundtable, where he had the opportunity to talk about the advancements in assessments, where we help students to accelerate their learning.
When talking about quantity data and quality data, Ron says: “I think that, in a lot of the formative assessments we do with students, we haven’t really thought about what we want [from them]. So what we do with that assessment in many cases is, we go back into the classroom and we remediate students”.
By bringing competency-based assessments to the table, Ron believes that we will be able to “stop remedianting students and putting them in a remediation ‘ghetto’, and we will move them forward by simply finding out where they are at and taking up their instruction from that point forward to accelerate their learning. And I think that is the ultimate goal.”
