Why Centric Learning Summer School is different than others

Centric Learning’s Director of Professional Learning and Innovation, Dr. Caesar Mickens Jr., talked about our Summer School program and why it is different from all the others.

“Imagine for a moment that you have a summer school program where students are working on projects they are really concerned about… projects on their communities, to resolve, maybe housing issues, or to clean up the community.” Dr. Mickens said. “And that in these projects… we infuse Reading, Math, and Learning to a high degree… and at the same time they are also being evaluated on competency-based assessments, to ensure that their learning has been accelerated.”

At the end of Summer School, these students are able to present their results to their parents and to their communities. “Imagine the experience, and the excitement, and the engagement that these students are going to be involved in.”
